The EXP Expander Box Weather Louver is designed to complement AmVentco's DUX range of pressure relief vents, specifically for halocarbon systems. This surface-mounted unit is engineered to provide a Free Vent Area (FVA) that aligns with the specifications of the DUX vents. Consistent airflow is ensured, while simultaneously offering robust protection against the elements for two-way vents in external walls.
The EXP unit is an ideal solution for retrofitting to existing systems. It can be easily added to pressure relief installations without the need for major modifications. This retrofit capability allows for a simple and efficient upgrade to enhance the weatherproofing and airflow performance of existing setups.
A design without compromises
One of the key challenges addressed by the EXP unit is the need for weatherproofing without compromising the air intake for bi-directional flow. Sealed external units are not suitable for this application, which is why an open louver design is essential.
The EXP unit utilizes a carefully crafted louver blade assembly, housed within a custom-designed ‘Expander Box’. This design is where the name ‘EXP’ originates, and it significantly enhances the FVA. The result is a louver system that provides up to 85% of the FVA seen in the DUX vents, far superior to typical market external weather louvres, which usually offer only up to 50% FVA.
With its fixed blade design, the EXP unit causes no additional restriction to airflow and does not affect the Vent Dynamic Coefficient (vDc), ensuring that your pressure relief system operates efficiently. This unit is built to handle high-performance demands, offering a durable and efficient solution for maintaining the integrity of your system while protecting the vent from environmental elements.
The EXP is available in three standard sizes to suit the variety of DUX sizes and is manufactured from durable steel, meeting ISO9001 standards.
